Iliyan Karadzhov’s last secondment at Corning begins
Iliyan Karadzhov (ESR1) has embarked on his third and final secondment at Corning Incorporated. This new training phase began on July 1st and continued though the end of the year at Corning’s Sullivan Park Research and Development facility.
During his remaining time at Corning, Karadzhov will focus on improving the design and the resulting optical properties of nanostructures embedded in the glass surface and test their antimicrobial functionality and durability. He will also conduct experiments on structures that can enhance the transparency and change the wetting properties of these nanostructures.
“I am excited about the opportunity to continue working with Corning scientists and expand my exploration of different designs and processes that will help achieve the targeted properties of advanced glass surfaces,” said Iliyan.
As in the previous secondment periods, Karadzhov’s work will be overseen by Corning’s experts: Prantik Mazumder, research fellow and Wageesha Senaratne, senior research associate.
Karadzhov’s previous secondment at Corning concluded in December 2023. Over the past six months at ICFO, he has been focused on reviewing and publishing his first paper and trying to replicate the results described in that paper in the ICFO NanoFabrication Facility.
