Davide Rizzotti (ESR3) participated in the “School of non-linear optics in fibers and integrated optics“. The 5-days course took place in Cargèse, in the west coast of the French island of Corsica from 22 to 28 October. A total of 61 students attended the 2023 edition of the school.

Davide Rizzotti (ESR3) pushes his individual research project forward with the thesis proposal

Davide Rizzotti, NANO-GLASS project early-stage researcher 3 (ESR3), presented his thesis proposal on Tuesday 12th September. Rizzotti presented his thesis, entitled “Fiberized Quantum Photon Generators and Processors,” at ICFO. The presentation lasted for about half an hour.

NANO-GLASS Coordinator, Valerio Pruneri, receives one of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics-BBVA Foundation Physics Awards

On September 25, the Royal Spanish Society of Physics-BBVA Foundation disclosed the awardees for the 2023 edition of their awards. Among the recipients was Valerio Pruneri, coordinator of the NANO-GLASS project, who received one of the eight awards. Specifically, Pruneri was honored with the Physics, Innovation, and Technology award. The jury, which bestows this accolade annually, recognized his “remarkable international scientific and technological contributions at the nexus of materials physics and photonics.”

Iliyan Karadzhov opens the second phase of NANO-GLASS secondments

Iliyan Karadzhov  is back in the USA. This June, the Early Stage Researcher (ESR1) started his second secondment period at Corning Incorporated. He will be working again at Corning’s Sullivan Park Research and Development facility for the next six months.

LuxQuanta, an ICFO spin-off, has recently joined NANO-GLASS project as partner organization. The company will participate in the project by hosting part of the next secondments of Susana Plascencia (ESR4). Plascencia will spent 3 months of secondment at LuxQuanta where she will be supervised by Dr. Sebastian Etcheverry, Chief Technnology Officer (CTO) & co-founder of the spin-off.

NANO-GLASS hosts its first workshop on “Integrated Devices for Quantum Communication and Processing”

NANO-GLASS project organized its first workshop, entitled “Integrated Devices for Quantum Communication and Processing,” on February 16th. Specifically, Corning Incorporated graciously hosted the event in person at its global research and development facility, Sullivan Park, located in New York state (USA). In addition to the in-person attendees, the event also attracted nearly 50 participants online via streaming.
