ICFO is an international multidisciplinary center with researchers from over 50 different countries. ICFO is among the top ranked photonics institutes in the world, a leader in cutting-edge research, the institute currently hosts 500 people, organized in 25 research groups in 60 state-of-the-art research laboratories. It has worldwide scientific leadership in nanophotonics, quantum optics and related application fields. On the industrial side, ICFO participates actively in several European technological platforms and is also very proactive in fostering entrepreneurial activities and spin-off creation.
The Optoelectronics group at ICFO has recently obtained several key achievements in the proposed field of research, including transparent electrodes for displays, an ultrafast and broadband tunable optical surface, a super-omniphobic surface with the largest transparency and lowest scattering, and integrated quantum random number generator.
