Iliyan Karadzhov opens the second phase of NANO-GLASS secondments

,

Iliyan Karadzhov  is back in the USA. This June, the Early Stage Researcher (ESR1) started his second secondment period at Corning Incorporated. He will be working again at Corning’s Sullivan Park Research and Development facility for the next six months.

During this period, Karadzhov will be working on the development and optimization of scalable fabrication methods for nanostructured optical surfaces. He will also be testing fabricated samples to assess their optical and multifunctional properties.

This time, I hope we will achieve a solution of how to embed functional material in a glass surface that is also durable”, said Iliyan.

Corning’s Prantik Mazumder, research fellow; Wageesha Senaratne, senior research associate; and Robert Bellman, senior research associate will supervise the progress of Iliyan’s work to advance his individual research project.

Karadzhov’s first secondment at Corning ended last December. In the last six months, while being at ICFO, his work has been focused on the preparation of an upcoming research article that describes a new fabrication method to create durable antireflection glass surfaces.
