Susana Plascencia embarks on her third secondment, this time at LuxQuanta

Susana Plascencia, an early-stage researcher (ESR 4) within the NANOGLASS project, has joined LuxQuanta for a three-month secondment, her third secondment since she joined the NANOGLASS project. This stay will provide Susana with the opportunity to make significant progress in her individual research project on “Quantum memories based on rare-earth doped materials.

Her work at LuxQuanta will involve collaborating with a team of experts to learn the key concepts on the theory of continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) as well as experimental training on integrated QKD system and evaluate the performance of the device.

“This secondment will allow me to gain insights into the fundamentals of quantum communications and provide the opportunity to work in an industrial laboratory with integrated and commercial quantum devices, which is a different experience than working in basic research in an optics laboratory”, said Susana.

During her secondment, Susana will be working under the supervision of Sebastián Etcheverry, CTO and co-founder of the company, and Borja Villanueva, R&D Engineer, at LuxQuanta.

“As active participants NANOGLASS project, LuxQuanta is committed to supporting young talent and advancing research in QKD and related fields. Susana’s secondment with us is an excellent opportunity to both mentor her and benefit from her expertise, adding another brilliant mind to our team during her stay.”, said Vanesa Díaz, LuxQuanta’s CEO.

The secondment at LuxQuanta will be a crucial step in Susana’s research journey. By working closely with the company’s experts, she will gain highly valuable hands-on experience and access to state-of-the-art equipment. This will enable her to explore new avenues and possibilities for her research project.
